Nika’s drawings featured her favorite Sanrio characters, and when I asked her why she chose them, her simple response was, “It’s because I like them!” That moment was profound—it reminded me of the joy that comes from staying true to oneself and expressing what genuinely makes you happy.
Nika didn’t worry about what others thought of her art. While her peers drew robots and scenery, she proudly created what she loved, standing out with her unique choice. Her courage to be herself and her happiness in doing so left a lasting impression on me.
In this piece, the light shining on the girl symbolizes the brilliance of someone who stays true to who they are, standing out by embracing their individuality. The character in the artwork is one of Nika’s own creations, showing a little girl holding and cherishing her favorite figure, radiating pure joy.
